Here we go… spring cometh to LULA
So we have begun our transition slowly with new mens shirts and sweaters. New women's blouse, cardigans and skirts have been added too. There will be major work done monday, tuesday and wednesday with winter leaving LULA and new spring stock entering LULA. On thursday and friday - we will organize the new stock. The same schedule will occur the following week. As well as the week after that. It takes awhile to switch the whole store over for spring so please be patient and kind as lifting over 150 coats is not easy for a 5'3'" female store owner. And no other like store attempts this full on switch to another season. Separates are first on the list this year. They include women's jackets, tops, skirts, pants, shorts, suits, vests etc. These are located in the back area of LULA. I'll try to blog daily about my success and include some pics of new items.
A GRAND FEBRUARY RESTOCK
Alrighto- here we go- I'm putting new mens stuff in this week-end. New cowboy shirts, dress shirts and sweaters ( Mainly golf cardigans). I also have dry cleaning coming in on friday; both mens suits and silk dresses. I put in tons of womens blouses this week already and I have some womens spring cardigans coming in on sunday. I have a fabulous valentines window with new red, pink, magenta, purple dresses for date night. Next week - I've got some cashmere coats in smaller sizes coming in. They are too cute to wait for next season.
February- the cruelest month
That's what e.e. cummings said and let's face it- he had something there. However- HOWEVER- I've had a whole lot of februarys' at LULA and I know the perfect solution- think spring. So not only do I revived LULA with some stuff I've somehow forgotten to put out or saved because of sheer cuteness but I start working towards our unnamed future. I'll be prepping all my spring stock and start pulling out the items in LULA to make room for the new. It's an insane amount of work usually coupled with a few terrible colds, a blizzard and one painfully bad mod. BUT I get through it.AND THAT IS ANOTHER REASON LULA IS SO AWESOME- I perserver so you need to also. My next Blog will be more in detail regarding my plan for the spring switch over. Stayed tuned - stay positive- I say, why not put on a LULA item and look at how cute you are?
OH January
Hey there- everyone- it's january in every way. Calm, quiet cold nights- chilly mornings. Running to our cars( or bikes). It's easy to get a bit down but my advice is to pull out those thick, cute sweaters and nubby scarves and simply wear more pieces of cute clothes. Fashion shouldn't drop with the temperature. So my solution is to restock daily. A new full fur window will be in on the upcoming tuesday and we will all persevere through another winter in MINNesota. Celebrate the winter with a party- cocktail or fake ski lodge. There's always a reson to have fun.
Upcoming at LULA:
Spring starts coming into LULA on FEB 22, 2012. Please keep in mind that this transistion takes 10 days. My advice for any LULA transistion is to be patient and come in often. Keep in mind that during the 10 days, it's harder for me to work as your personal clothier. During the switch to a new seasons stock, I need to tag and prep the new stock. On saturdays, I never refill so if you need my attention come on saturdays during all seasonal transistions. I'll be completely present to give all of my LULA love.
(Long term announcement: Lula will have her 20th anniversary party in November. It's invite only- long term LULA devotees are the only ones who will make the cut. It's going to be the biggest, best party of the year. Contact me to get on the guest list. Odds are- if you are reading this now- you qualify as a true Lula devotee.)
2012
Hey, it's a BRAND NEW YEAR. SO HIP HIP HOORAY. I can just tell it's going to be a fabulous year. So I got goals- lots and lots of goals. Many of them are related to LULA VINTAGE WEAR ( some are not-once again, abs abs abs). Anywhowee- on friday, I got a crazy refill idea, I'm going to go crazy and just totally refill with a bunch of stock that has been hidden. They are more the everyday insanely cool sort of things rather than party dresses. I think it's good to get refresh staples in january. It's more practical and keeps you excited in a more daily way. ( sometimes- in Minnesota- you need that.) The only thing about this style of refill- it's not for the faint of heart. You need to know what you like, have an idea about your true style etc. I'm always happy to help but you do need to be brave and try on things that seem cool but your a little scared of. Not everyone is willing to be so open. If that's you- you should come by and really go thru LULA because you will find something unique. Don't worry though, LULA is full of the always obviously apppealing too. I'll start on tuesday...
THE LAST DAYS OF DECEMBER:
Lula has been crazy busy with people visiting from out of town as well as people looking for a perfect item to wear new years eve. Fortunately we have many items lying in wait to come into LULA. It's been great to see everyone. We've got a great plan for our new years day eve. OUR D'eve PARTYas we like to call it. We are having a party from 4-6pm this saturday. We will have drinks and some food and some music - every 12 minutes there will be a dance party for one minute. We hope people will wear some glitzy beaded items but feel to free to just come as you are. We have had a good year at LULA so thanks to all of our awesome customers.
This week at LULA
We started the week with our holiday photo shoot with photgrapher Stephanie Hynes. She has a beautiful, well-equipt studio in downtown MPLS. Her assistant, Jared Powell, was not only a total pro but also very, very tall (which is exceedingly helpful). Hair and make-up was impecably done by Megan Mcnamara. Not only very talented but very funny. Our model Amber was easy to work with and has a timeless beauty that was perfect for my vintage dresses.It was a great experience with a lot of talented people. I learned that it takes a lot of patience and time to take a good photo. Then on monday night, we wrote a jingle for our 770 RADIO K ad. Lula is the sponsor of this years top 77 countdown for 770 RADIO K. We thought it would be fun to write a LULA jingle. My brother Jason Bush ( ainahainas music) wrote it and played all the instruments.( I just pressed buttons in pro-tools. ) We had another copy that had a B52 style over track of a guy saying "Lula". It was very funny but three people nixed it. I'll put it up eventually so you can laugh too. BUT on tuesday the fun was over and back to the holiday restocking for all of the december parties. We've had multiple loads of dry-cleaning coming in as well as washing too. As of today, thursday, I feel pretty ready for a crazy week-end at LULA but I do have one more big load to get in friday. So in short- you really should come on by… (Oh yeah- I got really cute boots size 7-71/2 that came in too…) Oh my gosh...
It's december
A white fluffy hello! This a.m. it snowed. Velvet can be worn as soon as the snow flies. Fur looks great in this type of weather too. We put in some furs as well as fur collars and fur hats to celebrate the season. I also started working yesterday on putting some hats in that are more festive colors.. They call them gem colors for good reason. I am completing a holiday window today that is of the blue green theme. Velvets, satins, brocades and bling for you and yours. New coats too were added and next week I'll pull out the leather coats. So if you wanted a leather coat- come in by tuesday- otherwise- you'll have to wait for the spring.
